About:
In 1978 Roy, together with James Bowie, formed a three-person Partnership in Portland.  The firm has evolved over the years into Thompson Bowie & Hatch LLC. Roy was integral part in the evolution of the firm's over almost 40 years, and his vision, wisdom, and basic human decency are hugely instrumental in what Thompson Bowie & Hatch LLC is today.

Throughout his professional career Roy was involved in all aspects of insurance defense work. Prior to assuming a position of, Of Counsel, Roy's primary focus was in the area of professional liability defending architects, engineers and surveyors against claims of professional negligence. Over Roy's distinguished career he was also involved in several high profile cases in the transportation and products liability areas which shaped Maine law. He was a mentor resource and, more importantly, a friend to many of the lawyers currently with the firm.

Roy lived in Maine from the time he was six years of age until the very end of his life. He attended the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, received an undergraduate degree from Yale University. Roy played varsity football at Yale with a number of stellar Yale athletes, including Calvin Hill and Brian Dowling. After Yale, he spent three years in the United States Navy, much of that time as an engineering officer on the Newport, Rhode Island destroyer, Charles H. Roan. After the Navy, he attended Boston College School of Law, and then practiced briefly in both Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Houlton, Maine, with the Barnes' Law Office.

Thompson Bowie & Hatch LLC greatly appreciates Roy's legacy, and strives to meet the ideals of professionalism and competence that he exemplified as a lawyer with the firm.
