Sarah Yantakosol Gayer was a featured speaker at the Federal Bar Association and the American Bar Association TIPS Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee's Admiralty Law Symposium on February 5, 2016 in San Diego, California. Her presentation focused on what vessel arrest is, the purpose of arresting a vessel, the applicable rules to know in advance, and the factors to assess before commencing a potential arrest of a vessel. Her panel also discussed how to arrest a vessel, including the practical considerations and required court filings, the Court's perspective on vessel arrests and what attorneys can do to make chamber's lives easier, and the substitute custodian's perspective on the actual physical arrest process and turnover to a substitute custodian.
