Sarah Yantakosol Gayer moderated the panel "2018 Hot Maritime Topics: Autonomous Vessels, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity" in Stamford, Connecticut. This CLE program was co-sponsored by the American Bar Association TIPS Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee and the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association U.S.A.'s New England Chapter. Panelists included Blythe Daly of Holland & Knight, Boriana Farrar of the American Steamship Owners Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association, Inc., Leanne O'Loughlin of Charles Taylor PLC on behalf of the managers of The Standard Club Europe Ltd, and Stephanie Penninger of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff. The program explored recent developments in key maritime topics including: how underwriters are likely to approach the new risk matrix presented by the advent of autonomous and remotely operated ships; what maritime practitioners need to understand about Blockchain; and managing cybersecurity and other risks associated with the use of developing technology in the maritime space.
