Sarah Yantakosol Gayer presented at the 27th Biennial Tulane Admiralty Law Institute: Admiralty Jurisdiction & Procedure: Blueprint for Practice in New Orleans. The three day long Admiralty Law Institute is one of the oldest and largest continuing legal education programs devoted to maritime law in the United States. Sarah's panel, "Offshore Jurisdiction & Choice of Law", explored the application of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA) to torts on fixed platforms versus on floating structures; the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA); interpreting indemnity provisions in contracts for oil field services on navigable waters; and the jurisdictional foundations of admiralty and basis for removal.
