About:
Matt concentrates his practice on complex civil litigation, with a particular focus on employment, commercial, and health care-related matters. Matt has represented a wide variety of clients, including large health care organizations, major academic medical centers, municipalities, state and local agencies, entertainment companies, and individuals before state and federal trial courts and various administrative agencies.
In addition to his trial practice, Matt also regularly advises health care clients on regulatory matters and managed care arrangements, as well as day-to-day general health care operations. Matt has also conducted internal investigation for health care and institutional clients relating to whistleblower and false claims allegations, discrimination, and corporate fraud.
Matt was awarded a law degree magna cum laude from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, where he was active in the school's trial and appellate court competitions. After graduation from law school, he served as a law clerk to Justice Janis M. Berry of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Before he joined Thompson Bowie & Hatch, Matt was deputy general counsel for a large health care system, where he was the primary legal resource for its ACO and managed care contracting entity and focused on a wide variety of health care and regulatory matters. Prior to that, Matt was associate at a Boston law firm, where he focused on complex commercial, health care, and employment litigation.
Matt received his B.A. in political science from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. While attending Wheaton, Matt spent time studying abroad at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where he also interned for the Scottish Parliament.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys golfing, baseball, football, and hiking, and has completed several marathons. Matt is from Scarborough, and currently lives in Cumberland with his wife, Kristen, and their son, Logan.
